Quinn Finer signs with Minnesota for 2027

The first notable move of the UFA offseason heading into the 2027 season came from Minnesota Wind Chill, which brought in former All-Star Quinn Finer from the Colorado Apex.

“Joining Minnesota felt like an obvious choice,” Finer said. “Over the last five years or more, they’ve been building something special from top to bottom. They have tons of talented players and a great organization. The organization is headed in such a good direction, and I really wanted to be a part of that. Playing for a top team in the league, with some great players and in a great system, is also a nice perk.”

“He's a weapon with his throws,” Feldman said. “That’s a really valuable piece for us with respect to connecting layers in the offensive unit. He's able to give our offense a more vertical threat with throwing power in addition to what he can do with his legs.”

When Head Coach Ben Feldman makes a move, it makes waves, and this should be expected as the first of many in an offseason that has a long way to go. At a glance, Finer brings his illustrious, trademarked backhand and an inquisitive offensive mind. The two first connected when Feldman invited Finer to join the halftime showcase at the Minnesota Vikings game last offseason.

“I think I can bring a unique balanced skill set to the O-line,” Finer said. “I pride myself on being able to slot in anywhere and fill any holes that the team needs me to on any given night. With that said, I think the focus is the collective. The group of guys and the hard work we put in together will get us over the hump. Not any one person. I’m looking forward to being a cog in a very well-oiled machine.”

Finer started his UFA career in 2022, earned First Team All-Rookie honors, and helped Colorado reach Championship Weekend before losing in the semifinals. In 2023, Finer leveled up, earning Second-Team All-UFA honors, but his team’s playoff run ended in the first round.

Outside the UFA, Finer has earned two gold medals with the U24 USA Team and the World Ultimate Championships USA Team. He also took home a first-place finish at the 2022 Club Championship with Johnny Bravo. Not to mention, Finer is an alum of one of the most storied college programs, Colorado Mamabird.

“Off the field, Quinn's a great ambassador for the sport,” Feldman said. “He's really passionate about it. He cares a lot about the UFA, and also invests time and energy into content creation through his podcast. We're excited about what he can bring to the table and will look for ways to use our platform and brand to further expand his impact on the sport.”

Finer is the Apex’s franchise leader in assists, goals, total yards, throwing yards, receiving yards, hockey assists, plus/minus, and points played. In all those categories, no one comes close to Finer. Safe to say, Minnesota got themselves a baller.

“We want guys who can play various roles and move around on the field,” Feldman said. “That versatility is what started to make our offense very dangerous this year, and we think Quinn is a piece that helps us expand on that.”

“I’m looking forward to sitting on the sideline and watching the D-line rattle off breaks for me,” Finer said. “On that note, being able to play against the best D-line in the league day in and day out at practice - Iron sharpens iron. There’s so much to look forward to. Playing in front of the biggest crowds in the league, playing with and against some of the best teams and players in the league, for me slotting into an already established team and seeing where I can fill gaps and make improvements to my own game and the team as a whole.”

  • 2022 (14 games): 36 assists, 53 goals, 84 +/-, 2,552 throwing yards, 4,116 receiving yards

  • 2023 (13 games): 35 assists, 29 goals, 47 +/-, 2,720 throwing yards, 3,241 receiving yards

  • 2024 (5 games): 21 assists, 7 goals, 21 +/-, 1,283 throwing yards, 1,033 receiving yards

  • 2025 (12 games): 34 assists, 36 goals, 45 +/-, 2,648 throwing yards, 3,268 receiving yards

  • 2026 (5 games): 20 assists, 8 goals, 21 +/-, 1,645 throwing yards, 1,065 receiving yards

It’s clear Finer can slot in anywhere on the field for any team he plays for, which will play to Minnesota’s strengths, and he's already familiar with the team’s mindset. A mindset born of the collective: it’s never about a single player. Minnesota thrives on duality and depth. No single player runs the show.

“There’s not one particular thing that influenced me to sign with the Wind Chill,” Finer said. “It’s really an accumulation of things. Location, talent, professionalism within the organization, and one thing I’ve always loved seeing from the outside is their dedication to defense and playing with depth. Even though any of 20 guys on the roster could be a superstar, they all play with and for each other. No one tries to do too much on the field. It really always is a team effort, top to bottom, offense to defense.”

“We're excited, and I'm excited to have him help us grow the sport here locally in Minnesota, and also help us win another title and bring another championship back to Minnesota in 2027,” Feldman said.
