For the second week in a row, the Carolina Flyers took care of business against the Atlanta Hustle. The comfortable 26-21 win moved the Flyers to 5-1 and put them in complete control of their playoff destiny heading into the back half of the 2026 regular season.

The Flyers jumped the Hustle in the first half, looking more prepared and ready to play than their opponents despite the road trip. The offense was smooth, and the defense forced a hot-and-cold Hustle team into one of their cold starts for the second week in a row. A dominant 9-3 second quarter where the Hustle couldn’t find any rhythm against a stifling Flyers defense powered Carolina to a 15-8 first-half lead. The Hustle made a couple of halftime adjustments, and the Flyers struggled a bit against Hustle double-teams in the third quarter as Atlanta pulled to within four at the end of the third quarter, but it was too little, too late.

Another stellar defensive performance powered the Flyers’ victory, with the D-line going a perfect 12/12 on break conversion opportunities, along with the 12 blocks they generated. Offensively, the Flyers were largely clicking and efficient. A 13/16 showing on hucks and a very impressive 17/18 Red Zone Conversion rate were the statistical highlights, but Tobias Brooks’ seamless integration into the offense is what Carolina fans would be most excited by.

Brooks began his 2026 UFA campaign with five assists and one goal, picking up right where he left off from his monster performance this year in the college division. Especially as the Flyers were still down Allan Laviolette, Brooks’ ability to stretch the field in all facets of the game only added another layer to worry about for a Hustle defense that couldn’t string together many stops all night. Jacob Fairfax was the primary beneficiary of the extra attention and problems generated by Brooks, though, as a monstrous +11 on 5G/4A/2B/0T set the bar for both teams across all four statistical categories. The defense shone brightest through a team effort. Nine different Flyers registered a takeaway against the Hustle for the second week in a row. If the Flyers can get complete performances on both sides of the disc like they have been the last couple of weeks, they’ll be the favorites to take the South division in the regular season and the playoffs.

The Flyers head up the East Coast for their final two games away from home with a Friday/Saturday doubleheader. First, on Friday, Carolina will face the D.C. Breeze in a cross-divisional match

up that could be the Flyers' steepest test of the year so far. Then on Saturday, Carolina heads to Pittsburgh to take on the Thunderbirds, who won their first game of the season just last week.
